Ashino Park

Ashino Park is known as a place where the writer Osamu Dazai used to play when he was a small boy. The park has been selected as one of the 100 Best Cherry Blossom Viewing Spots in Japan, and the cherry blossoms on about 1,500 cherry trees bloom in spring. The park is 80 hectares large, and visitors can enjoy a lake, the Osamu Dazai Literary Monument, a statue of Osamu Dazai, a monument marking the origin of the Tsugaru Shamisen, the Tsugaru Railway that runs through the park, and a small old-fashioned train station.
